I have been suffering with my TMJ for years- they listened and explained very thoroughly to what was happening and have helped come to a solution to start a healing journey- they all were very supportive and helpful and never talked over me but listened then made me feel heard.
How do I even begin a review for an office that has truly changed my life? No words will ever do this office justice but I’m going to try. I have suffered from severe TMJ for awhile, my jaw would lock shut and I have holes in my teeth from clenching so hard for so long. I was not sleeping well due to the clenching, and as an active person in my mid 20’s, I was napping throughout the day every day and thought it was completely normal. I am extremely claustrophobic so that made my experiences with lock jaw significantly scarier and I would have frequent panic attacks. I even was terrified to go to sleep because it only ever happened overnight. I was told by a doctor prior to finding this office that this was a forever thing and I would lock and be in pain forever - que yet another panic attack. I found Dr Sara after researching TMJ specialists and knew I was in good hands the second I walked through the door. Sandy, Laura, and Dr Sara have all had a hand in genuinely changing my life and they will forever have a special place in my heart. It has been just under a year since my first appointment and I have not locked in that time, I am completely pain free, I’m sleeping through the night and waking up feeling rested, I’m no longer napping throughout the day, I’m much more energetic, and much much happier. Going to Dr. Sara was the best decision I’ve ever made and I would highly encourage anyone who is experiencing jaw pain to schedule an appointment. I had been putting off seeing a TMJ specialists for over 15 years - my dentist had suggested it and I thought they were crazy. I never woke with headaches what were they talking about. Now that I have my device, I can actually see all damage I've been doing by grinding my teeth at night - I could have saved $$$$ in dental work if I had just listened! Dr. Vizcarra supported me in understanding what was happening with my jaw and the long term effects if I continued. She was patient with me, took the time to discuss my options, and explained the entire treatment plan and expected outcomes. I felt seen, heard and cared for by both Dr. Sara and her entire staff. I worked in the Dental field for 30 years and certainly knew about TMJ, but was all of a sudden experiencing symptoms myself. I have to say, this is the most caring and professional office I’ve ever been in. From the initial phone conversation with Sandi, to meeting Laura and then Dr. Vizcarra who spent a great deal of time explaining my CT, doing diagnostic tests and then explaining the whole treatment process. It's true treatment is generally not covered by insurance and can be costly, but quality of life matters. When I left I was confident the goal of this practice is to get you back on the road to better health. I highly recommend Dr. Vizcarra!!

As a 90-year-old woman, I thought it was probably too late to do anything about my TMJ problem; but increasing pain and difficulty in chewing finally convinced me to seek help. My dentist referred me to AZ Sleep and TMJ Solutions. When I called for an appointment, I was immediately impressed and reassured by Sandi, who is not just a “receptionist,” but is knowledgable about their treatments and took plenty of time to explain what I should expect at my first visit and what the cost would be. That first 2-hour visit included extensive diagnostic testing done by Dr. Sara and her caring and professional staff. I left with a temporary mouthguard and returned two weeks later for my custom-made appliance to wear at night. I do not hesitate to recommend AZ Sleep and TMJ Solutions.
first time with tmj solutions and it was a great experience. the staff were amazing and so friendly and professional. everyone was so kind and patient. the physician was amazing. great experience and i am glad i found them. i did go to the other tmj specialist in scottsdale and it was a whole different and very unpleasant experience with dr. farrell. would never recommend him or his office.
I have had TMJ issues for years with no real answers or relief. As I have called so many offices, no one has treated me as kindly as everyone at this office. Sandy gave me tons of helpful information the first time I called including what treatment plans can look like along with up front pricing (which many places will not give out until you book an appointment). She also provided jaw stretches to start doing prior to even having my initial appointment. At my first appointment, the doctor was extremely thorough in her exam and answered all my questions and came to a treatment plan that started immediately - no scheduling separate appointments for consultations, exams, etc. everything was done in one! I am very excited to continue this journey with them because I have more faith in the people here than I have had in many doctors in a long time. They genuinely want to help get you healed.

I suddenly started suffering from TMJ (closed lock) at the beginning of April, and was terrified of what was to come! but TMJ & Sleep has been amazing and I'm so happy I went with them! Sandy is amazing and so sweet, and they got in me in 3 weeks early when someone cancelled, and I have now been in retainers for almost 3 weeks and my symptoms have subsided drastically! It is expensive, but so worth it when you need your jaw to do so much! I will update this after my 4 months in the retainers, but so far so good!!!

My dentist referred me to AZ Sleep & TMJ Solutions for ongoing jaw pain. I was hesitant because insurance coverage is limited. So thankful that I went ahead with the visit / consultation. I've been having very serious jaw pain for 2 months plus head pain. Dr Sarah Vizcarra was able to identify the issues and provide a good treatment plan. After 1 week on the treatment plan, I am feeling much better. I think this will be a long-term health issue for me but at least now I know and understand what is causing the pain and I can treat it plus take preventive actions. Dr. Sara Vizcarra and her entire staff completely blew me away with their customer service and explanation of my TMJ condition. I have been suffering with this for years and had gone to my dentist’s office and hygienists to complain about the noise and discomfort I was experiencing. They continually brushed it aside every time I brought it up. I have been self-conscious and embarrassed by the loud, clicking noise in my jaw not only I could hear, but everyone around me as well for years. I found this office from a referral and am so happy I drove from Prescott to see Dr. Vizcarra. Although insurance will not cover the procedure, I feel the rate is fair. The doctor took two hours (what provider does that now) to explain the procedure and device she would be having made for my condition.I cannot wait to go back in a couple weeks for my device, which should also help with my snoring as well. I am confident Dr. Vizcarra will be able to correct this issue and I am excited to be working with someone who actually took the time to listen to me and explain every last question I had.

Not understanding much about TMJ, I was somewhat reluctant in scheduling the initial consultation and scans primarily because the services were not covered by my insurance. Sandi provided an extremely detailed description of what to expect on the phone and her knowledge of TMJ symptoms convinced me to make the appointment regardless of the out-of-pocket expense. The entire experience was very positive. Laura was especially knowledgeable, compassionate and helpful in articulating my issues in preparation for my meeting with Dr. Vizcarra. Dr. Vizcarra was most professional and clear in analyzing my scans and explaining the reason for the symptoms I am experiencing. The entire staff is so friendly and all my questions were answered. I was hesitant to go see them at first. I agreed to an initial consultation to see if I would learn anything different from my last TMJ evaluation.The experience was night and day. They were very thorough, I learned more about my condition (and a few other things I wasn’t aware of) than any other TMJ professional.After being fit for my device and learning how best to maximize the value, I was on my way. They were very concerned that the fit was comfortable and although I was satisfied with the fit, they asked a few questions and made adjustments that made it much more comfortable.Great team, from the door to the Doctor!
I had a great experience at AZ Sleep & TMJ Solutions. The location is nice, surrounded by calming desert scenery rather than in the busy part of Scottsdale. And everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful, and Dr. Sara takes her time to understand your concerns and she conducts and gentle but thorough exam. I had started down the path of a TMJ appliance at another dentist previously, but I didn't follow through because I felt rushed and like I was just one in an assembly line. This time, because Dr. Sara and her staff provide individualized and tailored care for each patient, I feel comfortable doing what I need to do to finally solve my TMJ issues. I highly recommend this place!
